世卫组织总干事谭德塞博士就年世界防治疟疾日发表的讲话

ThethemeofWorldMalariaDaythisyearis“ReadytoBeatMalaria”.
今年世界防治疟疾日的主题是“准备击败疟疾”。
WorldMalariaDayisimportantforatleast3reasons.
世界防治疟疾日的重要性至少体现在三个方面。
First,it’sanopportunitytocelebrateoursuccesses.Since,millionsofmalariadeathshavebeenaverted–especiallyamongchildren.Moreandmorecountrieshaveeliminatedthedisease.
首先，这是一个总结成就的机会。自年以来，数百万例疟疾死亡得以避免，尤其是儿童。越来越多的国家已基本消灭了这一疾病。
Second,WorldMalariaDayremindsusofthechallengesthatremain.
其次，世界防治疟疾日提醒我们仍然存有挑战。
ThelatestdatafromWHOshowthattheglobalmalariaresponseisatacrossroads:thedecliningtrendinthenumberofmalariacasesanddeathshasstalled,andvitalfundingformalariaprogrammeshasflatlined.
世卫组织的最新数据表明，全球疟疾应对正处在十字路口：疟疾病例数和死亡数的下降趋势已经出现停滞，疟疾规划获得的重要资金已经不再增长。
Ifwecontinuealongthispath,wewilllosethegainsforwhichwehavefoughtsohard.
如果这种局面继续下去，我们将会失去来之不易的成果。
